LOOK AWAY by Ollie Scully - 16.10 - 16.12.2018
宀 Gallery launches its programme on Tuesday, October 16th from 8 pm with LOOK AWAY, Ollie Scully’s first solo-exhibition worldwide. Scully is a graphic illustrator based in London who works with minimal yet emotional imagery. The exhibition will be presented in full for one night only, after which the works will alternate during 宀 Club hours until December 15th.
LOOK AWAY revolves around a group of works that were born hand-in-hand with music. Scully developed the core series exhibited as cover art for NIGHT FLIGHT’s album, "Carousel", with an aesthetic to reflect the band’s melancholic tone. Scully’s precise balance of colour and form paint a soothing window into moments of boredom, monotony and feelings of detachment. Whilst the moody depictions indulge in distant apathy, they remain approachable and vibrant, almost reaching out with acceptance to our collective highs and lows.
宀 Gallery is proud to kick off its programme with this carefully selected series of limited edition prints. These artworks have been chosen to hang amongst people while they dance, mingle, escape and create. LOOK AWAY is not about evasion, it is about looking away from the norm to explore alternative paths for expression and connection.

宀畫廊首個畫展「看向別處」將在十月十六日星期二，八時正舉行，是藝術家Ollie Scully首個個人作品展。來自倫敦的Scully本身是平面設計師，風格簡約同時又情感豐富。是夜畫展會將所有作品一次過展出，這晚過後作品將會轉作輪流方式展出，想一次過欣賞所有作品不要錯過。
「看向別處」的作品靈感大多都圍繞著音樂。靈感起初來自Scully為樂隊Night Flight設計大碟封面「Carousel」，其獨有的美學直接反映樂隊個性，不難發現Scully起用的顏色都異常平均，面向一只刻板的窗戶，沉悶、疏離之感油然而生，頓覺畫中主人翁的情緒化和厭世感，然而抽身以第三者角度細閱，可會感到主人翁情感起伏與讀者自身的共鳴。
宀畫廊很高興舉行是次畫展，以限量的形式在宀場地展出，經過細心甄別的作品，在人們跳舞、交談、忘我或創作時，都陪伴在則。「看向別處」絕不是逃避，而是打開一條前往自我解放的道路。
